My "ambitious" project is doing a series of photos involving different culture. The idea is that one person choose a non-self-identified culture. Then, we will work together to stage a scene that we think will represents the culture the best. The second step is to find a new person who is self-identified with the culture. And we will shoot a scene of the real culture from his/her perception. The goal is to see how people from different culture portrait each other and themselves. The gap between each photo will be the misunderstanding or stereotype of each culture.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to finish it. It's hard to find the right person and schedule a time with them. I don't have much time to spend on staging the scene or shooting in general. But I still like the concept. I might continue doing it in the future.

For these photos, Ally and I staged the skateboard culture. She chose the park near main st, and picked what kind of cloth to wear. All the action and falling are intensional to match her perception of skateboarding. I used my on-camera flash and a speed light putting on the ground. We had a good time!
